Hornady has announced the addition of new .30-06 ammunition to their product line. What makes this announcement special is that the ammunition is specifically designed for the M1 Garand.

This is excellent news for the M1 Garand owner/shooter that doesn't reload, and needs quality ammunition that doesn't have steel core or jackets (due to range restrictions on such ammunition).

Before this announcement, there hasn't been any readily available 'Garand-safe' commercial ammunition available on the market. The M1 Garand requires a specific pressure curve for safe operation for the M1 gas system. Thus, in order to guarantee that ammunition contains powder that is safe for the Garand gas system, the non-handloader has to use military surplus M2 ball.

Hornady should be praised for heeding the call for quality Garand-safe ammunition.
